So you want to start a new home business career. Why?

Under freedom of speech, people can say anything. It could be lie, hard truth, sales pitch, and hype. You should listen to yourself carefully before you quit your regular job and start a home business.
The best way is actually to ask youself in the mirror early in the morning. Ask "What do you really want?"
If the answer sounds general jargon or --worse-- sales pitch, you shouldreview your intent again. "Financially independent" is a jargon that isnot good enough for you to start a home business career.

Moreover, some people take bad reasons that end up in failure. Make sure you pick the good reasons. Here are some examples.
1. Don't like the boss at your current job.
Or don't like the office or whatever at your current job. Just because you don't like the boss or office environment, don't necessarily you quit the job and start "work" at home. You would be surprised that real customers out there in the real world are more demanding than that of your current boss. Your real bosses in the real world don't care who you are or how hard you work.
2. Easy to make money at home.
"30 days to millionaire", "Spend $30 and wait your money growing to $1 million in a year." You may have spotted this kind of ads. It is amazing that many people believe this. And later they must have felt sorry for believing.
3. Work at home can be done while playing with kids
Hmmm... It is not working this way. Yes, you can look after your loved ones like your kids while you do business at home. But…you must enforce discipline to separate your business conduct from your family matters. When your business associates or customers call you, and the kid picks up the phone and says "Mommi, here is the phone call." It is not good for your reputation.
Now here are the good ones
Take a look of some examples of good reasons.
1. My business doesn't require customer to come to my office.
Some businesses such as consulting, home repair require you to meet customer at their premises. So, it is not important where you set up your office from client perspective. In fact these customers don't want to come out as they want to save time. On the contrary, retail business requires you to set up a nice-looking store in a prime location.
2. I want to be close (but not playing) with my family members.
By preparing a proper SOHO (Small Office Home Office), you can do this.
3. I want to save time and cost.
By working from home, you can definitely choose your own office hours from very early in the morning until late night. You save lots of office cost. You don't have to go to unbearable daily commuting.
4. I would like to start my business from home initially.
When my business grows, and when financially justified, I move out.
5. I want to do part time business by working in the evening and weekend at home.
6. I want to take advantage of tax benefit.
Depending on your tax regulation, you can deduct the house expenses from your business.This is a great opportunity to reduce tax.
7. I want to earn extra income by networking mostly through internet and phone calls.
8. I want to write books from my unique experience and skill.
So, now you look again in the mirror, ask yourself, "what do you want?". If the answer sounds like some of good reasons above, then doing a home business is right for you.
If the answer sounds like the bad reasons, then you have to rethink. Find out what the causes are. And fix it. Jumping into a home business might not be a solution.
All these precautions do not intend to discourage you. This is to make sure that you have advantage right from the beginning. You can get the lesson without going through painful failure.
